Chinese Vice President Xi Jinping said on Wednesday that Turkish and Chinese businesspeople signed economy and trade agreements worth 4.3 billion U.S. dollars.

Chinese Vice President Xi participated in the meeting of Turkey-China Economic and Commercial Cooperation Forum in Istanbul.

There have been deep rooted ties between Turkey and China, Xi said.

"Turkey has become one of the most attracting countries in the world," he said. There has been a remarkable increase in trade volume between the two countries, Chinese vice president said.

Xi said China attached a great interest to Turkey's chemical raw materials and agriculture products such as hazelnut.

Chinese companies undersigned agreements exceeding 10 billion U.S. dollars in regard to the contracting services in Turkey, he said.

Turkey and China should strengthen their strategic cooperation, he said.

"We are visiting Turkey with more than 100 investment delegations from China. Our businessmen signed agreements worth nearly 4.3 billion U.S. dollars with Turkish businessmen," he said.

Turkish minister says Turkey, China should balance their trade volume

Turkey's economy minister said on Wednesday that Turkey and China should balance their trade volume.

Zafer Caglayan said Turkey had only one-tenth share in its trade volume with China, and China had nine-tenth share.

"We want this trade volume to be equal, balanced and sustainable," Caglayan said during Turkey-China Economic and Commercial Cooperation Forum in Istanbul.

Caglayan defined China and Turkey as two countries on the two edges of Asia, and said the two countries were planning to raise their trade volume to 50 billion USD by 2015 and 100 billion USD by 2020.

The minister said he would like to see Chinese companies in Kanalistanbul project and construction of a third bridge on the Istanbul Strait.

Caglayan also said Turkey and China would sign 28 agreement later on Wednesday worth 1.3 billion USD, including 308.5 million USD of energy investments.
